Chat space7
Long roads and packing breaks

Loading cargo and revisiting the countryside leave room to talk, although pursuits and fragile deliveries need focus.

Clip potential7
Physics and sudden horror

A collapsing load, bad corner, black fog, or hostile truck can turn a calm delivery into a self-contained failure.

Series potential6
A finite mystery

Upgrades, village changes, and the forest story support return visits, but repetitive errands can flatten a long schedule.

Launch competition7
Room to be found

Publisher attention gives the launch some awareness without creating a directory too large for a smaller channel.

Game reception6
Mixed-positive

Critics and Steam reviewers enjoy the cargo loop and mystery, while camera, navigation, interface, and loading friction recur in criticism.

Takeaway

Truckful earns a 7/10 Chum score. Packing unstable cargo into a small pickup and carrying it through a bright countryside already makes an easy chat stream; the haunted forest and hostile vehicles give that calm routine a needed jolt. Clumsy navigation, frequent transitions, and uneven physics keep it below the strongest launch picks.

What is Truckful?

Truckful is a single-player delivery adventure from MythicOwl, published by MythicOwl and Pocketpair Publishing. The player loads an ageing pickup with goods, drives them across a rural district, completes errands for villagers, and follows a mystery that leads into the old forest.

The load is a physical puzzle before it becomes a driving problem. Boxes, fish, vases, awkward goods, and passengers have to fit in the truck bed, then remain there across hills, dirt roads, mud, and sharp turns. Upgrades improve speed, capacity, and the routes the pickup can handle. Repairs and deliveries also change parts of the settlement, so familiar roads gain new purposes rather than acting only as scenery.

The comfortable delivery structure is interrupted by supernatural threats. Fog, dangerous forest zones, and an aggressive vehicle can turn careful hauling into a chase. The official Pocketpair launch announcement confirms the 9 October release on Steam and Android. Steam also ships native Windows, macOS, and Linux builds.

How the game has been received

The early critical verdict is mixed-positive rather than glowing. Metacritic lists a 74 average from three reviews, all in its Mixed band. On 12 October, Steam was Mostly Positive with 73 positive recommendations and 21 negative from 94 reviews.

Ethan at Use a Potion praised the packing, storytelling, art, and abrupt vehicular horror, while criticising camera trouble and loading breaks. Scott Ellison II at Saving Content reached a similar conclusion: the mystery and cargo loop are charming, but map, interface, camera, and navigation problems compound over time.

The Chum score measures streamability. It does not rate conventional game quality. Independent reviews and player sentiment inform the broadcast verdict.

The streamer verdict

The two moods solve each other's broadcast weakness. A delivery game gives chat time but risks becoming visually flat. Horror gives the road a payoff but would be exhausting if every trip were a chase. Truckful moves between the two, so the host can talk while packing and cruising, then focus when the forest stops behaving.

The same interruptions that hurt reviews can hurt a stream. Repeated loads between small areas break momentum, and camera changes can make a failed delivery feel arbitrary rather than earned. A creator should make the cargo itself the running score instead of relying on every road to produce excitement.

Give every object a price

Assign each piece of cargo a chat value before leaving the garage. Deduct it when the item falls out, arrives broken, or forces a reset. The total turns a quiet drive into a visible risk without adding a rule that fights the story or blocks upgrades.

Final verdict

Truckful earns a 7/10 Chum score. It suits a chat-led creator who can enjoy the road and let the mystery arrive gradually. The packing failures and horror beats are strong punctuation, while navigation and loading friction make it a measured recommendation rather than an automatic series.
