What connecting actually does.

What do I get when I connect a channel?−

Live Center on a phone, tablet, or laptop. That is the chat from the channel you connected, timeouts and deletes that land on that platform, automod, timers, Actions, viewer briefs, and a seat for your mods. The console keeps encoding. Until you connect, none of that is on.

Do I need a capture card or a PC to start?+

The picture is a separate step

The desk above does not need a capture card. Add one when you want a webcam on the layout, branded overlays, or Twitch, YouTube, and Kick from a single encode. Connecting the channel first still pays off: Live Center stays the same.

HDMI into a card

PS5 HDMI out into the card. Same idea on PS4 if that is still your box. Elgato, AVerMedia, and similar devices show up in Studio as a camera.

Build the scene

Game from the card, webcam, and the overlays you already branded. Chat and alerts sit on the layout.

Go live from Studio

Toggle destinations in StreamChum. Hit Go live in Studio. Already on OBS? Pair the plugin instead. You do not need both.
