The best games to stream if you want more viewers

The biggest games are usually the worst places to grow. Pick a title you can appear in, play for weeks, and talk over, then run it on Twitch, YouTube, and Kick together.

Takeaway

Fortnite, VALORANT, and League have the most viewers, and that is exactly why a new stream disappears there. Growth comes from a game you can still play in a month, where a small channel can actually show up in the directory at your time, and where chat has something to do. Then send the same stream to Twitch, YouTube, and Kick. This is how to choose. It is not a top ten that dies next patch.

The biggest games are a trap

Twitch, YouTube, and Kick still sort live directories by who is already winning. Open VALORANT or Fortnite and the first screen is channels with hundreds or thousands of people. Your four viewers are on page twenty. Nobody browsing the category ever gets there.

August 2026 numbers from Twitchmetrics (30-day averages) make the pile-up obvious. The games with the most live channels on Twitch were Just Chatting, GTA V, VALORANT, League of Legends, Fortnite, Dead by Daylight, and Minecraft. VALORANT sat around 490 live channels at a time. Fortnite around 440. League around 480. Those rooms also pull huge watch time. That is demand plus a wall of competition.

Dota 2 is the other trick. It was near the top of hours watched in August, with far fewer live channels than VALORANT. That looks like a gift until you notice the hours live in tournament broadcasts, not in twelve people looking for a new face. A high viewer-to-channel number is not automatically a growth category.

The only test that matters

Open the category at the hour you actually stream. Count how many channels already have more than about 10 or 15 viewers. If the first page is all big names, you will not be found there tonight. Check again on a Saturday. The same game looks different at 2pm and at 11pm.

The range people keep landing on: enough total viewers that someone is browsing (hundreds to a few thousand in the category), few enough live channels that a small stream can sit in the first couple of rows. TwitchTracker, SullyGnome, and Streams Charts all show viewers and channels. Use them the night you go live. Do not screenshot a blog from March and treat it as law.

  • Can a stream with your usual viewer count appear in the first two rows right now?
  • Will you still want to play this in six weeks, not just this Friday?
  • Can people talk to you while it is on screen, or is every second a clutch?
  • Would someone on YouTube search this game plus "first time" or a boss name and find the VOD?

Twitch, YouTube, and Kick are not the same directory

A "best game" list that only thinks about Twitch browse is half the job if you are going live in three places. Discovery is different on each one. The game still has to be one game, because you cannot play three titles at once.

Pick one title that works in all three rooms. Do not invent a different "growth game" per platform.
PlatformHow people find youWhat that means
TwitchBrowse by category, sorted by who is already aheadIf you cannot appear in the top rows live, the directory will not save you
YouTubeSearch, home, and the VOD is still there next weekTitle the run like a video someone would type. First playthroughs and bosses last longer than ranked
KickSame browse idea, smaller catalogThe same mid-tier game is less buried. Kick's biggest rooms are chatting, GTA, IRL, and casino, which is a different crowd

That is why one stream to all three is the default, not three separate growth plans. Go live from Studio so the Tuesday run exists on Twitch browse, YouTube search, and Kick's thinner list at the same time. Setup is in the Studio guide.

Types that keep working

A ranked list of ten titles will be wrong by October. These patterns show up every year. Use them as a filter, then run the directory test above.

A mid-size game you will still play in October

Viewers remember "the person who streams that game on Tuesdays." They do not remember the channel that hopped from a new Steam hit to ranked to a random indie every night. Pick one or two games you can live in for a couple of months. Variety is fine after people know who you are.

Games where chat has a job

Horror, chaotic co-op, story first-playthroughs, and cozy games give people something to type about. You jump. You ask the room which door. Someone on YouTube guesses the puzzle. Ranked with the mic down does not. Dead by Daylight is the crowded version of this idea. Smaller horror and cheap co-op with friends is usually the open version.

A community, not a ladder

Minecraft, GTA V, WoW, and FFXIV can grow a channel when you are on a server, in RP, or in a guild that talks. Solo pubs in those same giant categories are the Fortnite problem again. The game is the room. The people you play with are the show.

Launch week, then stop chasing

New releases really do open a window. Viewers want to see the game before they buy. Big streamers have not all locked in yet. Summer 2026 had the usual spikes: new shooters, indie horror, cheap co-op. Use a launch week if you already like the game. Making "whatever is number 12 this week" your identity is how you reset to zero every Friday.

What will not grow you

  • Picking the front page because that is where the viewers are.
  • A new game every stream so nobody can remember what you do.
  • Muted ranked, even in a "good ratio" category.
  • Slots or casino on Kick because the hours look huge. That audience did not come for your Tuesday co-op night.
  • Waiting for Twitch to recommend you. Small channels get found from being visible in a small directory, from raids, and from clips people send. The directory sort will not carry a 4-viewer Fortnite stream.

The game is not the whole show

A smarter category does not replace a schedule, a mic people can hear, or answering the people who typed. YouTube and Kick will talk while you are staring at Twitch. Live Center is one feed so you do not drop a sentence. The five things I would tell myself on night one are in that post.

Studio is Windows. Overlays work as browser sources in Studio and in OBS. The 14-day desk trial includes the desk. Creative AI credits for describing a new widget start at 0 until Plus or Pro.

Get Studio from Downloads. Chat is Live Center. The longer path from first stream to a first deal is that guide.

Go live everywhere. Run the desk from one place.

Connect Twitch, YouTube, and Kick, go live from StreamChum Studio, then run the rest of the show from one desk.
