Why people look past StreamElements

StreamElements still works. Pick a theme, paste a browser-source URL, go live. People look elsewhere because the look is the same as everyone else, the bot is a separate job from Live Center, or they are on YouTube and Kick as well as Twitch and the overlay app does not timeout the right platform.

Fair warning: this is a StreamChum blog. Some of these are cloud widget products like StreamElements. Some run on your PC. A couple are art shops, not products. The other nine are real.

1. StreamChum Elements

This is ours. Elements is the overlay workspace: themed collections so chat, alerts, and goals match, dynamic alerts (subs, raids, Ko-fi), and custom widgets you describe. Say you want a purple full-screen sub alert, logo in the corner, live chat on the left, and a goal bar under the cam. That is a real ask. "Make me a cool overlay" is not. Grab a free pack if you want something on stream tonight. Then drop them on a Studio scene, or paste the browser-source URL into OBS if you are still there. Chat and timeouts stay in Live Center. • Skip if: you needed StreamElements loyalty points, media share, or the merch store. We do not ship those.

2. Streamlabs

This is the usual swap. Cloud widgets, alerts, a chatbot, tipping. If StreamElements felt like a browser-source factory, Streamlabs is the other factory, with a desktop app attached. You still paste widgets into a scene. You still will not timeout a YouTube chatter from the overlay window. If your OBS scene already has a StreamElements alert URL, you can rip that out and drop in a Streamlabs alert URL. The scene still looks like a stream. • Skip if: you wanted to describe a custom widget, or moderate Twitch, YouTube, and Kick from Live Center.

3. Mix It Up

Mix It Up is a free desktop app: overlays, commands, currency, Twitch and YouTube (and more). People who left StreamElements because they wanted it on their PC, not in someone else's cloud, often land here. You run it next to OBS. You are now running a second Windows app all stream. That is the trade: your PC, their cloud gone. Grab it from Mix It Up.

• Best for: free overlays and commands on the streaming PC, without a theme store.
• Skip if: you wanted a branded pack you can restyle, or a hosted widget URL with no extra app.

4. Streamer.bot

Streamer.bot is local automation: Twitch, YouTube, Kick, OBS websocket, sounds, scenes, channel points. If StreamElements' bot felt small, this is the deep end. It is free. The learning curve is real. A raid can switch scenes, play a sting, and fire a message. It will not brand your chat overlay and your sub alert as one collection. Grab it from Streamer.bot.

• Best for: you want events on your PC to fire scenes, sounds, and chat, and you will spend time setting that up.
• Skip if: you wanted a matching chat, alert, and goal look tonight.

5. OWN3D

OWN3D is a store for stream looks. Themes, overlays, Pro widgets you subscribe to. If the StreamElements gallery felt generic and you wanted something that already looks designed, this is that shop. You still need a place to put the URL. The scene can look expensive. A YouTube timeout still lives in YouTube. The pack did not become your mod tools. Grab it from OWN3D.

• Best for: you will pay for a finished look, and you already have OBS or Studio.
• Skip if: you needed the bot, Live Center, or a widget you described yourself.

6. Nerd Or Die

Nerd Or Die is paid overlay art. Screens, alerts, stingers, usually as files you drop into OBS. Not a chatbot. Not a live widget cloud. If you liked StreamElements for the look and hated the rest, a pack from here plus a bot you already trust is a common split. Follow alerts still need Streamlabs, Mix It Up, StreamChum, or whoever you kept for events. Grab it from Nerd Or Die.

• Best for: you want original art, and you will wire alerts somewhere else.
• Skip if: you wanted one product that does overlays, alerts, and commands.

7. Lumia Stream

Lumia is alerts, overlays, and smart lights. Twitch, YouTube, Kick, and more. If the StreamElements alert box was fine but you also wanted the room to react, this is the lights-plus-alerts pick. A sub can fire the on-stream alert and flash the Hue bar behind you. Your live chat overlay is still a separate widget if you wanted it to match a pack. Grab it from Lumia Stream.

• Best for: events should hit the scene and the bulbs.
• Skip if: you wanted a themed chat, goal, and BRB collection that matches.

8. Firebot

Firebot is open source and runs on your PC. Overlays, commands, effects, Twitch-first. People who want StreamElements-shaped tools without the hosted account often try this. You maintain it. Twitch events work. A Kick chatter still needs Kick's tools for a timeout. Open source did not unify the three platforms. Grab it from Firebot.

• Best for: you want the bot and overlays on a machine you control.
• Skip if: you wanted a marketplace of looks, or YouTube and Kick mods from Live Center.

9. Lightstream

Lightstream is overlays plus someone else's encoder. Console people, overlay-first people, anyone who does not want a full capture-card PC. StreamElements was the widget URL. Lightstream is widgets plus the pipeline. If you stream from an Xbox, StreamElements in OBS needed a capture card. Lightstream can take the console feed and an overlay without that box. Our console path is Live Center on a phone while Xbox Broadcasts. Studio is the local encode once you add a capture card. Grab it from Lightstream.

• Best for: Xbox or overlay-first, you'd rather not run OBS or Studio locally.
• Skip if: you want every source and bitrate on your own PC.

10. Pixel Chat

Pixel Chat is a visual overlay editor in the browser. Widgets, alerts, a canvas you click around on. If StreamElements' editor felt like a pile of settings and you wanted to drag boxes, this is closer to that. Chat on the left and a goal under the cam: in Pixel Chat you drag those modules. In StreamChum you can describe the same layout, or start from a free pack. Grab it from Pixel Chat.

• Best for: you want to design the overlay yourself, visually, then paste a URL.
• Skip if: you needed Live Center, or a widget written from a sentence in Elements.

What did not make the ten

• Nightbot, Fossabot, and Moobot are commands. They are not an overlay product.
• Fourthwall is a store and merch. Useful if StreamElements was your shop. It is not a chat overlay.
• Sound Alerts is sounds and clips. Pair it with something that actually draws the scene.
• Custom HTML in a browser source is always an option. It is not a product. Most people who search this list do not want to become frontend engineers just to get a chat box on stream.
